Winter Fly Fishing

December Calm – Winter Fly Fishing

Winter Fly Fishing
It’s hard to believe 2019 is knocking on the door. The hustle and bustle of the “fall fly fishing busy season” is behind us. December brings a welcomed calm on the river as we enter the winter season. The glow of fireplaces and the subtle reflections of people peering through their cabin windows is common during the winter months on the Muskegon River as most have retired from fishing for the season.
Sure, fly fishing for winter steelhead and trout fishing isn’t about big numbers, but having the river relatively to yourself combined with the regular sightings of eagles, deer, mink, and the occasional otter simply create an experience only available this time of year. To put it simply, winter fly fishing is all about the unabated opportunity to enjoy the sport of fly fishing and the beauty of the Muskegon River.
Swinging flies for steelhead and nymphing soft-water edges will be our primary techniques of choice during the winter months. Warm clothes and an eagerness to simply unplug from the craziness of life is all that is necessary for success. Give us a call, you’ll be glad you did.
Christmas shopping have you puzzled this year? Consider giving a gift certificate this year. Full-day and half-day options are available. We can’t think of a better present to put under the tree this year for your employees or family members. Click the link below to purchase today!
